Once your task has completed, you can view the output files. There are two ways you can view output files:
Output file names
The names of the output files are dependent on the specific tool. While there isn't a generic way output files are named, they may contain the output extension or the task performed on the file (e.g. indexed, sorted, annotated, etc).
View output files from the Task page
You can view output files created as the result of a specific task execution from the Task page. To view these files:
- Navigate to the desired project from the Projects tab on the top navigation bar.
- Click the Tasks tab.
- Click the desired task name.
You can see all the output files produced by the task under the Outputs column of the Task page.
- In the Output section, click the name of your desired output file to display a page with the output file details.
Output file details
This page contains information about the file name, size, and date and time of creation. It also contains metadata information. On this page you can:
- Metadata - view metadata for the output file.
- Raw view - view the file contents; as file preview is only available for files that are up to 10MB in size, you can use the raw view to browse through larger files.
- Preview - if available, file preview will be displayed by default and it will also depend on the type of file i.e. file extension (e.g. for a vcf file, the data will be shown in a table, while in case of a PDF, the preview of the PDF file is displayed).
- Copy - copy the output file to a different project.
- Tags - add tags that will describe your files.
- Download - download the output file to your computer (see Download results].
- Get download links - Get the URL for downloading a file. Use this option If the files you want to download are too large or too numerous for your browser to handle. This is also useful if you want to run the download on a remote computer.
- Delete - Delete the output file.
- Archive - Archive the file (AWS only).
Intermediary files (files which are produced during the job execution but which are not the outputs of a task) will be accessible via View Stats & Logs in the related task for 24 hours after the task has executed.
View file contents (raw)
The raw file view is available for all file types.
View output files from the Files tab
To view the output files from the Files tab of a project:
- Navigate to the desired project from the Projects tab on the top navigation bar.
- Click the Files tab.
- Click the desired output file name.
The Task ID column contains the link to the task the output file originated from.
