Execution error occured

I tried rerunning a task just now, and I almost immediately received the error: This task ran into a problem during execution and did not finish. Execution error occured <sic> I'm assuming this has to do with AWS? Or is it something with my account? It happened 3 times in a row. I'll keep trying every 30 minutes I guess.

Hi Mia,

This error occurs when a program has run into an error and failed. Oftentimes, this is caused by an exception thrown by the program. The best way to find this error is by reviewing the task logs: http://docs.cancergenomicscloud.org/docs/view-task-logs.

Please keep in mind that if you have attempted captured stderr as an output and the task fails, the output will not be captured. Outputs are only captured as jobs complete successfully.

Hi Erik,

This is a spin off from my other question. I had removed the stderr redirect in an effort to capture the log, and now I am getting this execution error.

I reran a previous task that at least returned an exit code, but now I just get the above error. Maybe I broke the app?

I will try recreating it and see how it goes...

Recreating the app in a different project didn't work, and using a different docker container didn't work.

If you want to add a note to the task in the project that's giving you an issue, I'm happy to take a look. :)

For the record, this was due to a problem with the scheduler, and the workaround was to specify exactly which AWS instance to use.

From Mirko:

"This can be done by going to workflow editor page and clicking on the button "..." in the upper right corner and then choosing the settings option.

Hint can be added by clicking on the + button and for the entering sbg:AWSInstanceType in the left, and typing in the specific instance in the right box.

Autocomplete should work, suggesting available instances on our platform.

Details on disk size, cpu, memory for particular instance can be found here:

https://aws.amazon.com/ec2/instance-types/ "
